Well, everyone on this day celebrating my 36th birthday I’d like to give a shout-out to my friends Dan and Joe Chaput of
who recently published an epic fantasy novel that weaves the best of J.R.R. TOLKIEN and ROBERT E. HOWARD with a style that reads like a Bernard Cornwell historical fiction novel.I will take it from the back of the book…
Three Kingly Lines — One Crown…
After the death of the legitimate High-King in battle, his rightful successor is displaced and war and chaos reign freely over the land of CALEDONIA.
A web of scandal, murder, and intrigue weaves itself around each of his successors; each of their downfalls come from an unexpected quarter. Some are slain by their friends, some of their wives sleeping killed, and still others go mad and seek their own undoing. Even as all yearn for the bloodied crown of the Caleds…
This book is a well-written pot-boiler of the many kings that wear the crown of Caledonia. Some are more sympathetic than others, while others are more insane than others. It is written by two brothers who understand fantasy as it should be told in the classical sense. There are no post-modern tropes or attempts to bring present-day issues into the story bearing some hidden agenda.
This is a story as a story should be told.
No hidden messages or agendas by the authors.
It is IRON AGE storytelling in its purest form and you will not be disappointed.
Happy Birthday, Tom :D
This is a most intriguing review, wouldn't you think my friends? We all love to see more Iron Age books! No boring DEI schlop, and definitely no depression-inducing, postmodernist swill.
